Jamie Foxx는 다양한 장르에서 활약하는 배우이다.

액션 영화에서 익숙했던 관객이라면 레이 찰스의 전기 영화에서 그를 놀랍게 재연해 냈던 그를 낯설게 느낄 법하기도 하지만, 좁은 음역대에도 불구하고 그의 연주와 노래는 다채롭고 그윽하기까지 하다.

레이 찰스의 원곡 'I got a Woman'을 새롭게 해석해 냈다.

위키피디아에 따르면, 그는 다섯 살 무렵부터 피아노를 쳤고, 2학년 무렵부터는 조크를 말하는 데 재능이 있어 그의 선생님이 종종 상을 주기도 했다고 한다.전형적인 언어 영재성의 특징인 셈이다. 고등학교에서는 최우수 등급을 받았고 농구 선수와 미식 축구 쿼터백을 맡기도 하여 '댈러스 카우보이'에서 선수로 뛰고 싶은 꿈을 갖기도 했다고 한다.이러한 그가 대학에서 클래식 음악과 작곡을 공부했다고 하니, 지금 위의 연주가 괜히 나온 것은 아니다. 앨범도 세 장을 내면서 그래미상을 받기도...... 아아. 몹시도 부럽다.
